How COM port works with 3D Printer system
Why the 3D printing uses with Serial COM port Card. It has some reasons, Big 3D printing, it needs more long distance, it can use Ethernet for data transfer, but the cost will be more expensive. When use RS485 or RS422 Serial port Card, it supports long distance up to 1.2KM. Also cost effect too.

COM port number will not change when system re-start
Serial COM port – has more stable feature. Because of Serial COM needs to set up Port number. Com Port position is by our setting as we need. The Port 1 data only can go between Port 1 and Device 1, When you use port 1 to connect Device 2, If without setting, it will not working. That is why Serial Port Card is more stable then USB or other interface.
RS485 or RS422 can have long stance up to 1.2KM
Because of low transfer baud rate, that it can supports long distance up to 1.2KM(with 115kbps). If the speed higher, such as 230kbps, the distance will be shorter. The baud rate can be set up as device needs. Our designs with highest baud rate – 921.6Kbps. It is compatible with 921.6, 460, 230, 115, and lower too. That can set up as your need.
How many 8 port card can add to system
In system, it can add 4 pcs Card into the OS system without problems. Add 4pcs is standard spec. Some of big system, they need to have 64 port Serial COM. That will need 16 port 3 in 1 Serial Port Card with 4 pcs. That will have 64 port Serial COM PCIe card

What connector uses with Serial Port – DB9
Serial COM has standard connector or not – answer is yes, it has also it does not have. It depends on your need.
Serial Port RS232 standard connector
Serial RS232 standard connector is DB9, some also design with Terminal Block with 9 pin or 8 pin too. In the marketing it has new connector call Mini DB9 connector too. If you have special need, we can design as you need too. It will be ODM case.
How about 2 in 1 RS422 or RS485 standard connector?
RS422 RS485 normal it comes together, it calls 2 in 1 modes. RS485 or RS422 standard connector are using DB9 or Terminal Block. With Add-on Card PCIe or PCI or Mini PCIe or M.2 from system it will be DB9 because it is easy for factory. But for external it will be terminal block. Different then RS232, RS422 or RS485 it has no standard pin define for DB9, but RS232 has standard pin define with DB9 connector. In the marketing, RS232 will be easy to connect between device and host. But RS422 or RS485 need to make sure pin define before connect host and device.
Can we use Terminal block connector?
Yes, we can use terminal block connector. It is easy way for RS422 or RS485 if device is long distance from PC system. That we be easy way to use terminal block connector.
