The 5KV , 3KV , 2.5KV Isolation
In the marketing most of suppliers products 3KV or 2.5KV Isolation products. Because it is easy to get DC to DC and photocoupler. But 5KV is less companies production. That other reason is 5KV Isolation needs more PCB spec needs. That is hard to add with one PCB. That is why most of Add-on Card factories do not production with 5KV Isolation Cards.
3KV Isolation
Now Diarts has support Serial RS232 RS422 RS485 with 3KV Isolation protection. Isolation, we call optical Isolation. The signal from the device into PC, it will change to light with signal. Those can protection PC from outside. It is very important to have this function to protect your Host. For Isolation protection it has some different level, we use 2.5KV or 3KV it is good for industrial level and 5KV Isolation is medical level to use.
5KV Isolation
Medical Electronics – 5KV isolation, as we know 4KV Isolation is standard level for medical electronic, but why we need 5KV, that has few reasons.
- 1 – easy to get DC to DC and photocoupler ports. In the marketing 5KV’s components are easy to get than 4KV parts.
- 2 – upgrade 1 level, it gives more better protection with upgrade a level. Most people like it
- 3 – Cost is most of same, it will be other reason

4KV Surge, 600W Surge
Surge, it is also add function for Serial RS232 RS422 RS485 products. Most products Serial do not add this function. It is good to have. It is same as Isolation function. But add those function the cost will be higher. It has different levels 600W Surge or 4KV Surge. Both specs are we have now.

Air 15KV, Contact 8KV ESD protection
The ESD protection comes with chipset. It should have 15KV by Air or 8KV by contact protection. When hit by ESD over 15KV or 8KV the chipset will be gone. But if under 15KV or 8KV, it has 3 types will be happen.
- 1 – Nothing happen, and signal is good
- 2 – it has wave show up but PC is good
- 3 – it needs to re-start PC
- 4 – types are good with CE testing.

Serial RS232 RS422 RS485 are 3 types of transfer signal and all are using with different applications
4 Wires RS485
To supports 4 wire RS485, it also calls RS422 Multi-Drop. With TD+ TD- RD+ and RD-, it also supports multi-drop up to 32 devices link with 1 port RS485 4 wire. That easy to set up with system needs.
2 Wire RS485
The mode is standard RS485 supports D+ D-, it also supports Multi-Drop function up to 32 devices. It is good for Building project, control system,
RS422 Point to Point
Point to Point it is RS422 or RS232 standard mode. RS422 has TD+ TD- RD+ RD- it is easy to link from Host to Device with 4 signals. Easy to set up
RS232 mode
Serial RS232 has 9 pins with RxD TxD DTR DSR RTS CTS DCD and RI it supports more function depend on your project needs. Most of systems use with Data collection. CTS and RTS have special function to use too.
120 ohm resistor RS485 mode
Because of long standard and multi-devices. sometimes RS485 needs to set up 120 ohm resistor at last device. It will depend on. When HMI can not configure the RS485 device that may need to add resistor.
PCIe , Mini PCIe, M.2, and GEN Z 1C ( EDSFF )
Computer is still keep with Add-on Card interface with PCIe base. Before is PCI, ISA 16 bit and ISA 8 bit. Now all interface uses with PCIe interface. Therefore, PCIe also for embedded system with Mini PCIe, M.2, and GEN Z 1C ( EDSFF )
PCIe
It is standard Interface spec PCIe has Lane x 1, x 4, x 8, and x 16 That can add Graphic card or Storage card, , …..
Mini PCIe
It is first Embedded interface Card, but it has only supports PCIe x 1 lane. It can not supports more PCIe Lanes. Therefore, In the marketing only see with Mini PCIe Card or mSATA only
M.2
Most of IPC system needs smallest case, When they designs IPC M/B without PCIe slot. Before it has Mini PCIe interface. Mini PCIe is good for all kind of Add-on Card, but it has only 1 Lane spec. But M.2 supports Lane x 1, Lane x 2, and Lane x 4 – 3 type Lane spec and 4 Key interface.
B key
It supports PCIe * 2 Lanes, SATA, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, Audio, UIM, HSIC, I2C, SMBus. With Add-on card only take PCIe interface. Also can use SATA to extend SATA to 2 port SATA or 4 port SATA to support Multiplier for Raid 0 or 1, We also design those type product too. It also supports USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. it can extend 1 port USB port, But it has no power for 5V, it needs external Power for 5V
M key
For M key, it supports PCIe * 4 Lanes, SATA, and SMBus. With M key most important with NVMe PCIe SSD products. With PCIe * 4 Lanes, it can support up to 30Gbps transfer rate. That is in the marketing, it has many NVMe supports high transfer rate SSD. We also use the PCIe * 4 Lanes Spec, design many different spec Add-on card such as Ethernet 1G 2.5G 10G Ethernet Card, 2 port or 4 port SATA Hardware raid spec. It can support B key Add-on Card too. That is why we design with B key and M key within one card support two key.
GEN Z 1C ( EDSFF )
It would you next Gen embedded interface. But now it can only see with storage products. But the spec supports PCIe x 4 lanes or x 8 lanes. That we can designs with more interface no only storage.
