Spec with Industrial Level, it needs to have Din Rail and Wall Mount kit. The product uses FTDI chipset FT4232, it is USB to 4 port Serial Adapter Converter. It is best chipset for USB to Serial UART choice. It comes with 15KV ESD protection for each RS232 port. Our design is smallest. And each port has own RX and TX LED light. Allow us to check each port transfer.
What is Industrial Level Design?
Serial RS232 or RS422 or RS485 are using with some of Industrial projects. That is why we have to design with Environments limit – Din Rail, Wall Mount, Operating Temperature, storage temperature, and ambient relative humidity to meet with Industrial specification.
Here have few types of Din Rail specification – Top hat Rail, C section, and G section. Our products support with Top hat Rail specification.
Some of projects, inquiry with Din Rail kit because they have some devices need to add. If without Din Rail it will be unclear.
It is other way to fixed device. Wall Mount also use a lot in the industrial project specification too.
Industrial specification is operating temperature needs to under – 0 c to 70 c. It is industrial spec. in the marketing almost of products do not support with Industrial operating temperature.

Why is USB to Serial no other interface such as 1394 or HDMI or LAN or ….
In the marketing is not only have USB to Serial RS232 RS422 RS485, why is not 1394 to Serial or HDMI to Serial or LAN to Serial. I can say because USB is more popular interface. 1394 is good interface, but the devices kind of expensive. HDMI is not good to use with control system. LAN to Serial, It is also best choice. USB is plug and play, and Now USB 4.0 will come this year. That even USB 4.0, it can supports with USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 or USB 3.2. That is why USB to Serial can be keep going and without any problems.
Serial RS232 RS422 RS485’s protection has few different kinds. Isolation, Surge, and ESD protection, Each type has different target.
3KV Isolation, 5KV Isolation
Isolation, we call optical Isolation. The signal from the device into PC, it will change to light with signal. That can protection PC from outside. It is very important to have this function to protect your Host.
For Isolation protection it has some different level, we use 3KV it is good for industrial level and 5KV Isolation is medical level to use.
4KV Surge, 600W Surge
Surge, it is also add function for Serial RS232 RS422 RS485 products. Most products Serial does not add this function. It is good to have. It is same as Isolation function. But add those function the cost will be higher. It has different levels 600W Surge or 4KV Surge. Both spec are we have now.
Air 15KV, Contact 8KV ESD protection
The ESD protection comes with chipset. It should have 15KV by Air or 8KV by contact protection. When hit by ESD over 15KV or 8KV the chipset will be gone. But if under 15KV or 8KV, it has 3 types will be happen.
1 – Nothing happen, and signal is good
2 – it has wave show up but PC is good
3 – it needs to re-start PC
3 types are good with CE testing.
