How Industrial Serial 4 port 3 in 1 Embedded IPC system RS232 RS422 RS485 Card is good for small PC extend more Serial port as need
Here is new interface embedded PC M.2 interface, it supports PCIe interface, therefore, we can add PCIe card with PCB size 2230 2242 2260 2280 and 22110. That is good for IPC system need. Now we have designs Serial 3 in 1 M.2 4 port UART RS232 RS422 RS485 Cad. We use Maxlinear ( Exar ) XR17V354 chipset meets Industrial Level spec. The M.2 interface, the card supports B Key and M key interface.It also has A key and E key. Normally, A and E key are using with Wifi Card, also size only with 2230, it will too small to support with 4 port UART. The card is good for Industrial IPC or Embedded System to extend interface card.
IPC system with M.2 Interface
Most of IPC system needs smallest case, When they designs IPC M/B without PCIe slot. Before it has Mini PCIe interface. Mini PCIe is good for all kind of Add-on Card, but it has only 1 Lane spec. But M.2 supports Lane x 1, Lane x 2, and Lane x 4 – 3 type Lane spec and 4 Key interface.
It supports PCIe * 2 Lanes, SATA, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, Audio, UIM, HSIC, I2C, SMBus. With Add-on card only take PCIe interface. Also can use SATA to extend SATA to 2 port SATA or 4 port SATA to support Multiplier for Raid 0 or 1, We also design those type product too. It also supports USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. it can extend 1 port USB port, But it has no power for 5V, it needs external Power for 5V
For M key, it supports PCIe * 4 Lanes, SATA, and SMBus. With M key most important with NVMe PCIe SSD products. With PCIe * 4 Lanes, it can support up to 30Gbps transfer rate. That is in the marketing, it has many NVMe supports high transfer rate SSD. We also use the PCIe * 4 Lanes Spec, design many different spec Add-on card such as Ethernet 1G 2.5G 10G Ethernet Card, 2 port or 4 port SATA Hardware raid spec. It can support B key Add-on Card too. That is why we design with B key and M key within one card support two key.
The A key it also has PCIe * 2 Lanes, USB 2.0, I2C and DP * 4. As we know, A key uses with WiFi model from Intel with NB, but it also has USB 2.0. It would use more USB devices.
In the E Key, it has PCIe * 2 Lanes USB 2.0, I2C, SDIO, UART, and PCM. In the marketing, just few E key slot, but almost design A and E key together, because That will be easy way to sue.
Why needs 3 in 1 RS232 RS422 RS485
In the marketing, Serial Card has few kinds – RS232 or RS485 or RS422 or RS422/485 or RS232/422/485. Each prices are different. With too many different products, we need to keep more stocks, Therefore, we supports to production 3 in 1 RS232 RS422 RS485. That users can choice any model as you need, also can have 1 port RS232 1 port RS422 2 port RS485 as you like to have.
What connector uses with Serial Port – DB9
Serial COM has standard connector or not – answer is yes, it has also it does not have. It depends on your need.
Serial Port RS232 standard connector
Serial RS232 standard connector is DB9, some also design with Terminal Block with 9 pin or 8 pin too. In the marketing it has new connector call Mini DB9 connector too. If you have special need, we can design as you need too. It will be ODM case.
How about 2 in 1 RS422 or RS485 standard connector?
RS422 RS485 normal it comes together, it calls 2 in 1 modes. RS485 or RS422 standard connector are using DB9 or Terminal Block. With Add-on Card PCIe or PCI or Mini PCIe or M.2 from system it will be DB9 because it is easy for factory. But for external it will be terminal block. Different then RS232, RS422 or RS485 it has no standard pin define for DB9, but RS232 has standard pin define with DB9 connector. In the marketing, RS232 will be easy to connect between device and host. But RS422 or RS485 need to make sure pin define before connect host and device.
Can we use Terminal block connector?
Yes, we can use terminal block connector. It is easy way for RS422 or RS485 if device is long distance from PC system. That we be easy way to use terminal block connector.
4 port Serial M.2 Card
2280 for M.2 B M Key, it is still small. But it is good for embedded System needs. We try to design more small size such as 2260 or 2242 for 4 port or 8 port Serial RS232 RS422 RS485 M.2 Card. That will be different design, It will be TTL spec to 3 in 1 RS232 RS422 RS485 Adapter.
Mini PCIe VS M.2
Both Mini PCIe and M.2 are embedded system interface slot. Mini PCIe also has two size Half size and Full size. for interface it has mSATA, PCIe, and USB. Because Mini PCIe only has two size, when add-on card are more parts, that will be not enough spec, Therefore, M.2 has more space can use.
